AWC Helps in the Advancement of Space Exploration!
An AWC customer is building a replacement for a shuttle. They are working on the solid rocket boosters, also known as SRB’s. SRB’s provide the main thrust to lift the space shuttle off the pad. The AWC customer has a prototype they are going to test in the near future. Their plan is to take an SRB and thrust it out the back of a C-5A. They want to monitor the parachute deployment. Here’s where Allied Wire comes into the picture – our wire is in the sensors for the test!

AWC Brings the World to School
The elementary school was able to host an earth balloon due to a grant from Allied Wire that helped fund the exhibit. A 20-foot-tall, three-dimensional inflatable globe known as the Earth Balloon visited the elementary school. The globe is a traveling exhibit, which was hand-painted over 500 hours.
Students were given a lecture about plate tectonics, continental drift, rain forests, and mountains and learned about how the continents are changing every day. Students were even able to wander through the middle of the earth.
The local NBC news program covered the exhibit -http://www.nbc40.net/view_story.php?id=5193.
Allied Wire and Cable was thrilled for the opportunity to help make the special day happen.

Allied Wire Part of the Upcoming Terminator Movie!
Well, we’re playing a small part in the movie alongside Christian Bale.
Some of AWC’s wire is going to be used on the set of the new Terminator movie that’s rumored to release in 2009. The wire will function in various ways including in a gimbal for a movie camera and in some of the machines that will be featured in the film.
Be sure to remember AWC when you see the movie in theaters! Just another way, Allied Wire comes to life.
